Why does Zoroark, a Unova Pokemon, appear in "Zoroark: Master of Illusion" when Unova hadn't come out at the time?

Dec. 10, 2012

In the movie Zoroark: The Master of Illusion, Zoroark appears while Ash is on his journey inSinnoh, while Zoroark itself is a Unova Pokemon, a region that had not been revealed in the Anime up until then. Is there an explanation for this?

If Game Freak did the same with Lucario, then it is safe to say that they just wanted to do it that way. This was most likely done to promote Gen. 5 and give a preview of what was to come.

That’s because they weren’t in the unova region because at the end ash says he’ll visit zoura in her reigon.
