Just like KyokaSuigetsu said, it they wanted the research that Professor Rowan has gathered. Think about, Rowan is the lead researcher on Pokémon in the Sinnoh Region. He is the first to discover almost everything new about a Pokémon. NOw, by stealing his Pokédex, you get all the latest data on every Pokémon. Also, not only do you get data from Sinnoh, but also from Kanto where he spent 4 years studying Pokémon. Also, he specializes in evolution, so that could be another factor. He discovered that 90% of Pokémo n are connected. to each other via evolution. So, I believe the reason Galatic tried to steal Rowan’s Pokédex was for all the latest research on Pokémon in Sinnoh and information on Pokémon in Kanto. I hope this helps!
