Why did my Mewtwo Y's Rest fail?

I was battling in Showdown with a Mewtwo Y, it was poisoned and I used Rest to heal the poison and get full HP, of course Mewtwo Y has Insomnia which means that the Pokemon cannot be asleep.

Did the Rest fail because of the poison/ability or was it a glitch from the game?

Regardless let me point it out:Because of Insomnia, moves that induce sleep to the user fail.Yes that also self afflicted moves, like Rest

You cannot use Rest successfully if you have the ability Insomnia.

Insomnia prevents the Pokémon from being afflicted by sleep and Yawn.Rest will fail when used by the Pokémon.
