What is the difference between the ability Solid Rock and Fliter?

They both reduce super effective damage by 1/4.

Nothing, they have the same basic effect just different Pokemon that can learn them.

There are quite a few moves/abilities in the game that have the same role, just something to add a little more diversity, if only by name.

There is none. They’re the exact same, like Turboblaze and Mold Breaker, or White Smoke and Clear Body.

Solid Rock

Solid Rock reduces super effective damage by ¼. A move that would deal 2× damage will instead deal 1.5× damage, and a move that would deal 4× will instead deal 3×.

Filter

Filter reduces super effective damage by ¼. A move that would deal 2× damage will instead deal 1.5× damage, and a move that would deal 4× will instead deal 3×.

The only difference is the Pokemon have access to the abilities.
