What can Tyranitar be used as a counter for?

I was trying to find a solution to my Metagross problem, so I was think about a complete counter Pokemon to both it, and things similar to it. I’ve seen Tyranitar’s power first hand, and know that it can do plenty, but; what exactly is Tyranitar used to counter competitively? How good is it against wall Pokémon?
