What are the shape buttons in the Pokemon summaries and what do they do?

I know you can click them and that the star one is red when shiny, but what do they do, like for example does it do anything when I click the triangle one? just to show what I am talking about:

see the buttons in the corner, the circle, triangle, square, heart, star, and rhombus, what do they do? Thanks!:)

Those are just markers for your Pokemon, no use other than that. I guess they could be useful for telling Pokemon apart though.

Those are called markings. You can change while using the PC, and they’re useful sorting your Pokémon, or keeping track of your favorites, stuff like that.Hope that this helped.
