Inkay Evolution in oras?

Ok, I know how to evolve inkay, I’ve done that much reaserch (flip upside down at lvl 30)

I got traded a inkay on Omega Ruby, and want to use Malamar. I now have a level 45 inkay, and at each time I have flipped my 3ds upside down (new xl 3ds).

I have tried leveling up with rare candies, double battles, and wild encounters.

Does this feature work on oras, or am I wasting my time with what shall forever be inkay?

Yes, Inkay does evolve in ORAS when you hold the 3DS upside down.
