Ice Punch or Avalanche for Swampert?

Swampert’s speed is pretty low so I was just wondering if Ice Punch or Avalanche would be better? It’s defense is strong enough to withstand an attack from a grass type attack (hopefully) so I would think Avalanche is better, but I need some second opinions.

Also, is there any other way to get Avalanche without breeding? All like 7 of my Mudkips/Marshtomps/Swamperts are male… -_-

Avalanche is arguably best for regular Swampert, and Ice Punch for a Mega Swampert.

And the only way to get Avalanche on it without breeding is by TM… in Gen 4. So yeah, breeding only.

ice punch is physical and does more damage that avalanche.If swampert is low,swampert will just be killed since avalanche has a priority of -4
