How do you so called "beat the game"?

Different games have different end points. The first “ending” is when you beat the Elite Four but there is usually some more story after that.
In D/P/Pt you go to Stark Mountain like speed freak said. In HG/SS you beat all the Kanto gyms and then Red.
Then of course, the other ending is when you complete the Pokedex to 100%!
Welll, technically beating ANY Pokemon game is kinda just beating the Elite Four. But there is unlimited gameplay.
Well the main story line in pokemon diamond ends after you defeat team galactic at stark mountain but like midnight sky said it is endless
You BEAT THE GAME when you collect all the pokemon possible (complete the pokedex) And totally pwn all the NPCs.
