How do you get bulbasaur in heartgold BEFORE defeating red?!?

I haven’t beaten Red but I want a Bulbasaur to evolve it into Venusaur.I saw in some Let’s Plays they had it before beating red but HOW and WHERE do you get/find one?

You can’t.

The only way to get a Bulbasaur in HGSS, without getting the one from Professor Oak is to use the PalPark, GTS or trade with a friend.

I’m afraid the only Bulbasaur that is available in Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, is the one you can receive from Professor Oak after obtaining all 16 Badges and defeating Red.

The player that had a Bulbasaur before defeating Red probably obtained from Pal Park or in a trade, either that or they hacked to get it.
