How come one of my Pokemon had a different evolution screen?

So like most Pokemons evolve in the overworld but when I evolved fletchling it was like the standard evolution screen. and I saw someone say that their fletchling evolved in the overworld, so how does it happen?

It depends on where your character is.

Throughout my playthrough. I’ve noticed that Pokémon will evolve/hatch on the alternative screen in the following situations:

Otherwise, the game will try to show it in the overworld.

Disclaimer: the game is still new, and this is my own experience. This answer may be missing certain situations.I was not able to find a source to verify these are the only situations.

If you evolve your Pokemon inside a building it will have the classic evolution animation
