Do you HAVE to do the gym inspection, asked by geeta, in Pokemon scarlet & violet?

I looked it up it says you have to inspect to be able to fight the gym leaders if you don’t want to fight them you don’t have to inspect the gyms
You can’t do the Academy Ace Tournament or six-star raids until you’ve beaten all the gym rematches, which is most of the worthwhile postgame content at the moment. Six-star raids are the best way to get rare items in the game, which you’ll need if you want to train competitive Pokemon or if you want to do the sandwich shiny hunting method.
In order to unlock the Ace Tournament and thus 6 and 7 star raids, you have to complete the inspections.
