Can you always stop a Pokemon evolving?
May. 22, 2016I traded all three starter Pokemon from fire red to leaf green.. I want to keep my squirtle at its first evolution and was wondering why it keeps evolving even when I press B?
Is it something to do with disobeying me? Can I stop this in anyway? Thanks

You can always stop a Pokemon from evolving if it holds an Everstone. The Pokemon will not evolve when at a level at or above it’s evolution level, will not evolve after a trade, and stones will not work on them.
Pressing B to stop an evolution only works on level-up evolutions. It will not work for trade evolutions, stone evolutions, etc. As Squirtle is a level up evolution, you should be able to press B to cancel it’s evolution. Remember, you have to press B while the evolution is taking place, not right before the end of the battle.
You can have the Pokemon hold the Everstone. You can get it from Oak’s aide in the Pokemon Centre outside The Rock Tunnel at Route 10. You need to obtain 20 Pokemon before he’ll give it to you.
As for why Squirtle kept evolving; no idea.
