Can someone explain how Mega Evolution in a contest works and how it benefits you?
Jan. 20, 2015There was a similar question asked before, but the answer didn’t really do a good job of explaining things, so I am asking for more clarification.

The Excite Meter, which is the star meter at the top-left hand corner, fills by 1 star when you use a move which is the same type as the contest type (using Meteor Mash in a Cool Contest). But some moves, like Electro Ball may fill 2 stars if a certain condition is met (the first to perform in line)The Pokémon who fills the fifth star of the Excite Meter will perform a special performance (called a Spectacular Talent) that depends on the Pokémon’s primary type and earn a lot more hearts. However, if the Pokémon can Mega Evolve and fills the Excite Meter, the Pokémon will Mega Evolve and perform a special performance that earns more hearts than the normal special performance.
