Berries don't do their job?

I was battling, my haxorus used outrage and got confuse and the berry didn’t activate! I KNOW I had a berry on it I was doing battle subway in black 2 and berries go back after you use them (in the next battle) and afterwards I checked and it was there. It was the first confusion, too, and my game doesn’t really glitch so what happened????

These moves may have removed your berry
