Are there any major differences between M.D Red/Blue rescue team compared to the Switch Remake?

I am back with another M.D DX related question.

I recently got into a debate with my sister. She thinks the remake, that she’s never played, is the exact same as the originals.

Personally, I have never beaten the original so I can’t really say story wise. The minor differences I’ve noticed were the addition of moves, addition of new Pokemon, change of controls, removal of normal attack, and change of evolution stones. I was wondering if there were more changes to the story, characters, or events?
